I've just bought tickets for the Sat 2:30 show. 
If anyone else is planning on going that time, I'll be in the vicinity of that big refreshments counter at 2:15.

Next armature construction class

Lovely third years

We will continue construction of your armatures. We will be doing the hands and feet next. Please remember to bring the following to the next class (that's next week 1 March):

Your design, armatures and all materials from week 5, plus

Ferrules - 4mm and 6mm ones, about 4 of each (see pic)

Superglue and Two part epoxy glue (see pic)

Copper wire, about 0.7mm thick (see pic) - though many of you already got some from me

Nuts and bolts , that go together/ are the same size

Then, if you have one already, please bring along one of these nifty table-top vices(see pic). We will be working on the feet and you will need to make your armature stand on its own, with space free underneath the armatures, as you may tinker with it from below.

If you don't have one of these or something similar, don't despair. Just bring an empty! tin or plastic container.(See pic) We will make holes in it and have your armatures bolts go through those holes. It's all very high-tech, as you can see...

Also, bring a small container or something to carry your hands in after class finished (the armature's hands).

Hi my lovelies

Tuesday class will remain Tuesday class. Thank you to those who responded. Some can't do a Wednesday class, so we will stay in the same date and time slot.

We may move to the Grotto for our next class - I need to check if this is possible - will let you know.

Please remember to bring your tools and materials for the Tuesday class, as well as your designs. We will start constructing your armatures in class.

Also, remember to bring cash to buy wire, if you haven't done so already.

Can we move the class to Wednesdays??

Hi there students

I just had a chat with Pluto. There are some delays in getting our shooting space (aka "the loos") for the next couple of weeks. I need you guys to have ample space to build your armatures in, so I am hoping to use the Auditorium. Unfortunately the Auditorium is booked on your Tuesday class.

Can you please let me know asap if you are available on a Wednesday for class. Please state YES next to the following time slots on a Wednesday, if you are available. If I can have all you third year students available on the same time slot on a Wednesday, then we will move the class to Wednesday.

I am sorry to mess you about, but its essential that we have enough space for your to build your armatures in. We are working with power tools and wire etc. We need more space than the Cube provides.

Highly Recommended: Mummenschanz

Mummenschanz, a Swiss theater troupe is going to be performing at the State Theater from the 22nd - 27th Feb.  I watched them when they came in 2008 and I'm definitely going again this time. It's wonderful to look at in terms of rhythm and timing, characterization through objects and conveying emotion without dialogue.

Please bring CDs of your paper cutout animations from last year to Marinda's class this week (08/02). I (Nina) will be there to collect them. I want to get an idea of what your work looks like, so if you have any other work like drawings, paintings, sculptures, designs, digital animations etc. that you're proud of, please put those on the CD too.

Ok, I know I said you don’t need anything for my next class (Tuesday 8 Feb 1:30pm). If you do however have time/money/feel inclined to, you may get the following tools and materials for yourself. It’s all you need to be able to build a basic armature. Except the wire... we are still waiting for the order of wire from the US. For Tuesday, I will bring some other wire for us, to work with in class.

If you can borrow these tools for family or friends, you are most welcome, and if you don’t have it yet for Tuesday, that’s ok. But if you can get them, that would be super.

Important, please bring an A4 (or A3) sketch pad to class next week. Thanks.
